BALZ BACHMANN
Balz Bachmann has been active in the music scene for many years as a versatile composer, producer, and musician. His work spans feature films, documentaries, theater, art projects, and television, showcasing his creative range and dedication. He has collaborated with many renowned directors and artists, including Jasmila Žbanić, Dani Levy, Ramon Zürcher, Lisa Brühlmann, Sabine Gisiger, or Academy Award winner Xavier Koller.
His compositions have received numerous prestigious awards. In addition to his work as a composer, Balz Bachmann is an accomplished music producer and a lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts. As a musician, he has worked with artists across various genres, including touring with singer Sophie Hunger. His musical style is diverse, ranging from electroacoustic and orchestral compositions to songwriting and experimental works—always striving to create a unique musical identity for each project.
In 2024, he was selected as one of twelve composers worldwide for the prestigious Spot the Composer program at the Cannes Film Festival. Balz Bachmann lives and works in Zurich and is a member of the European and Swiss Film Academies

I strive for a distinctive musical language that resonates authentically with the emotional arc of the characters, avoiding clichés or predictable solutions. Instead of merely reinforcing atmospheres, emphasizing the obvious, or resorting to manipulative gestures, I seek a deeper connection between rhythm, image, melody, movement, and sound—subtly poetic yet profoundly expressive.
